The traditional fish and chip shop is a British staple, and have been serving punters for centuries. They are a huge family favourite when it comes to choosing where to have a takeaway treat, and can be relied upon to serve us comfort food whenever we need it.
In recent years more chicken options have been appearing on the menu, with dishes like salt and pepper chicken munchie boxes or shredded chicken loaded fries providing a great alternative to traditional fish suppers.
This is why Adam from The Village Chippy in Failsworth has added salt & pepper chicken bites to his menu, as a way to drive more customers into his shop and satisfy the growing need for more chicken at the chippy! We took a visit to meet with Adam and learn all about how his menu is developing to suit a modern audience and learn how these changes are being embraced by his business that's been at the heart of the community serving up fish & chips for over 30 years!

When we visited Adam at The Village Chippy in Failsworth, situated just outside of Manchester, one thing was clear, this fish & chip shop was extremely popular! We stopped by in the morning to chat all things chicken, and by the time we were done, the queues were building outside the shop with customers looking to get their lunch fix.
Speaking about the popularity of Meadow Vale chicken on the menu Adam stated, 'people keep coming back and buying it so I think that’s a good sign!Italic People seem to be loving the salt and pepper chicken bites and we’re buying the nuggets by the boxload so they’re very popular.Italic’
Adam has added our Meadow Vale Battered Chicken Fillet Bites to his menu and serves them up as a salt and pepper chicken dish. Regarding the battered bites Adam said, 'we use them for our salt and pepper chicken bites where we mix it with our salt and pepper seasoning, fresh peppers, fresh onions. It’s a great dish!Italic’
“People seem to be loving the salt and pepper chicken bites and we’re buying the nuggets by the boxload so they’re very popular”
Whilst Adam admits that fish and chips are still the most popular dish on his menu, he does acknowledge that the chicken dishes are becoming more popular with the younger generations.
